If you are measuring your dog with string wrap, the string around your dog's neck where the collar will sit. Leave a little room for breathing. Compare the measurement to a tape measure or a yardstick.
If you are measuring your dog's current collar, lay your dog's collar flat against a yardstick or a tape measure. Measure from where the material starts to the current adjustment of the collar.
