Through our collaboration, we’ve provided our Clumping Organic Tofu Cat Litter to help KatDadde manage the unique challenges of caring for dozens of rescued cats. Recently, we had the honor of interviewing their team, and their inspiring journey reinforces our mission to support both cats and the people who care for them.
Q: KatDadde Rescue has been around since 2018. Could you share how many cats you’ve helped and what keeps you motivated?
A: “We’ve rescued over 500 cats! Honestly, seeing the success stories and updates from families keeps us going. We have never ever said no to a cat who is injured or sick—tough medical cases are our specialty. While we’ve had some sad stories, we’ve had a number of miracles and are so honored to continue this difficult work to change the lives of stray and feral cats.”
Q: With so many rescue stories, is there one cat that holds a special place in your heart?
A: “Definitely Tom. We even named our new rescue building after him—Tom’s Place. He was a feral cat who wanted nothing to do with humans. Over time, our rescue director, Todd, developed a relationship of trust with him. Eventually, he came around and became an indoor cat at the rescue. He was riddled with medical issues, but he always came back for head butts and love from Todd. They got so close. Tom unfortunately passed away, but he was a cool cat that really represented the mission of KatDadde Inc. We have a heart for ferals and the unwanted. He was both, but his final days were full of love.”
Q: Managing so many cats must mean a lot of litter. How do you keep up with demand?
A: “We have 60 cats at the rescue building, and we scoop litter daily and change litter weekly. It’s… a lot. We’ve learned not to have litter boxes with kids because some of our rescue cats get spooked. All cats use the same litter.”
Q: How was your experience using Happy & Polly Tofu Cat Litter? Any memorable moments?
A: “We hate fake-smelling perfumey litter. However, the tofu cat litter… oh my gosh, it was so good but not in the gross fake way! We really enjoyed using it, and it worked so well. We used the cat litter in the pen that housed a momma cat and her 5 fresh newborns. Due to the way it clumps, we felt it would be best used in a smaller space with fewer cats—not in the large empty living room space with up to 30 cats roaming. Momma cat had no trouble with the litter!”
Q: Financial sustainability is a major concern for many rescues. How does this affect KatDadde?
A: “A big concern for us is cost. Our rescue really is running on fumes at all times, financially.”
