3 Best Ways To Measure Your Dog For A Collar

There are three different approaches to measuring your dog's neck for a dog's collar.
  1. Use a cloth measuring tape
  2. Use a string with a tape measure
    If you don't have one, a string will work if you have a tape measure or a yardstick.
  3. Or measure a current collar

How to measure your dog?

If you are measuring your dog with measuring tape, wrap it snugly around your dog's neck where the collar will sit. Loosen the tape a little for breathing room where the tape crosses is your measurement.

If you are measuring your dog with string wrap, the string around your dog's neck where the collar will sit. Leave a little room for breathing. Compare the measurement to a tape measure or a yardstick.

If you are measuring your dog's current collar, lay your dog's collar flat against a yardstick or a tape measure. Measure from where the material starts to the current adjustment of the collar.

Traditional collar size is based on the distance from the start of the material to the middle adjustment hole and can adjust up and down a few holes from the middle.
