Mushroom Cat Water Fountain

And my cat loves it, too!

I want to love this water fountain so bad - my cats LOVED this fountain- but there is just one design flaw that is making me get rid of it.
The difficulty to clean it is absolutely frustrating. The mushroom in this fountain is HOLLOW, so water that is mixed with dust from the air, cat hair and saliva just builds up inside. I did not realize until recently that there is a dark brown ring on the inside of the mushroom cap, right around the edge of the large mushroom inside. I have done everything (except throwing the lid in bowling water) to try and get all of the gunk out and it just does not come off!! It is impossible to stick anything inside of the holes to clean it either since you have to reach inside at a 90 degree angle.
I washed this cute thing often too - and it still created a build up. ALSO, on the outside, some sort of scaling builds up on the underside of all of the mushrooms and it is so incredibly difficult to get off since the texture of the white part of this fountain is a bit gritty (feels like unglazed ceramic), so everything sticks on and does NOT come off. I thought it was maybe due to my water in my house being hard, but even after exclusively using filtered water in the fountain, the build up still happened. This also happens in the inner rim of the bowl part where the lid sits. I have to scrub it so hard that the paint has chipped off!
I have had this fountain for about a year and wish I did not have to get rid of it but unfortunately due to the fact that it is so difficult to clean and the motor is hard to replace I cannot say I recommend this fountain.

Arrived broken a week ago, I sent pictures and they sent me a new one in perfect condition in just a few days. Super cute and great quality materials. Small size is actually perfect, it isnt too small at all.
